Dr. Martin V. Diaz grew up in Iowa City, IA. and graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2008.
Since his childhood optometrist had the ability to make him feel like he was the most important person in the room, Dr. Diaz decided that he would like to pursue optometry as a career. He received his doctor of optometry (O.D.) from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2013, where he was salutatorian.
After graduating he went on to further his studies by attending a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease from the Veterans Affairs medical center in White River Junction, VT. Dr. Diaz knew he wanted to come to southwest Virginia because of an internship he did at the Salem Veterans Affairs hospital in his last year of school.
He is a member of both the American and Virginia Optometric Associations. A long time fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers, he is feeling his Hokie Spirit begin to bloom, Dr. Diaz also enjoys reading and is a car enthusiast.
Dr. Diaz is the creator of TuVistaSana, a consumer education website about eye and vision care in Spanish.
