Happy February from Drs. Jacobs, Diaz, and staff!
Wishing everyone a happy Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Ground Hog Day, and every other day. Did you know that February is Macular Degeneration Awareness Month? Well, you do now.
This ties in well and helps us shed light on Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) which is the most common major eye disease in the US, affecting close to 10 million, mostly senior, adults. It is also a prime example of a “lifestyle” disease. The way we treat our eyes and body when we’re younger will impact the way our eyes and body treat us when we’re older.
Take an active part in protecting your retinal health. Eat plenty of fruits, nuts, fish and vegetables, don’t smoke, exercise moderately and regularly, and keep screen time down as much as possible.
Drs. J & D are getting excited about our upcoming visit to the premier, annual conference of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), called Vision by Design, in Orlando in mid-April (see if you can spot Dr. J in one of the photos from last year). We’ll have more info in next month’s newsletter. Also, we’ll tell you about our attendance at Growing Up in the Valley Family Expo on April 7th.
